Euthanasias made easier

Who I am

My name is Marios, and I am a veterinary surgeon based in West Oxfordshire, where I’ve lived for the past eight years. I am registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and work independently, providing compassionate in-home euthanasia services so that pets can pass peacefully in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. I’ve lived with animals all my life and understand how deep the bond between people and their pets can be, and how difficult it is to say goodbye. My aim is to support families with kindness, patience and respect during one of the most emotional moments of loving a pet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at thelastkindness@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I offer my services for dogs and cats. I am limited to only providing pet euthanasias and I only offer my services to pets who are already registered to a veterinary practice.

I strive to make this final journey as peaceful as possible for you and your furry one. I offer sedation prior to euthanasia, allowing your pet to become deeply relaxed and sleepy beforehand, helping to reduce anxiety and ensuring the process is as calm, peaceful, and stress-free as possible.

Unfortunately I am unable to offer my services to clients of The Coach House Vets in Freeland. If you are a client of the clinic please contact the clinic directly.

I visit your home at a scheduled time. With your permission your pet is first given a sedative so they fall into a deep, peaceful sleep. Once they are fully unconscious, a final medication is administered that allows them to pass calmly and painlessly.

No. The process is designed to be gentle and peaceful. Your pet is deeply sedated before anything else happens and is not aware of the final step.

Most visits last 45–60 minutes, allowing time for introductions, sedation, the euthanasia itself, and private moments afterward. I  never rush.

Yes. You are welcome to have family members present, including children, if you feel it’s appropriate. Other pets may also remain nearby if that feels right for you. Please be aware that this might not be suitable for vulnerable individuals or children

Anywhere your pet is most comfortable — a favourite bed, the sofa, the garden, or even your lap. There is no “right” place.

You may take as much time as you need to say goodbye. When you’re ready, I will gently prepare your pet for aftercare according to your wishes.

Common options include Private cremation where ashes are returned to you or Communal cremation where no ashes not returned. There is also the option of home burial

I will discuss all options with you in advance

If you choose cremation, I will arrange transport for your pet with care to a trusted local crematorium. For private cremations, ashes are typically returned within 1-2 weeks. You can also arrange taking your pet to your own veterinary practice and arrange cremation through them

This is one of the hardest questions. Many families consider factors like pain, mobility, appetite, joy, and dignity. I am always happy to talk this through with you — you don’t have to decide alone.

That’s okay. There is no pressure. If you need more time or decide not to proceed, we will respect that completely.

At-home services are typically more expensive due to travel time and extended appointment lengths. I am transparent about pricing and can discuss options ahead of time.

This depends on availability, but I do my best to accommodate urgent situations whenever possible. Please note I am not an on-call vets who will visit your home for a second opinion consultations. My services are limited to euthanasias and cremations

If this happens, I can still help with aftercare and cremation arrangements.

Absolutely. There is a list of resources available on the home page.

Cremation options

Communal cremation

Commmunal cremation is an option for pet owners who choose not to have their pet’s ashes returned. In this process, several pets are respectfully cremated together. After the cremation, the ashes are collected and are usually scattered or laid to rest by the crematorium in a peaceful memorial area.

Individual cremation

Individual cremation is a service where your pet is cremated separately from other animals. This means that the ashes you receive are those of your own pet. After the cremation, the ashes are carefully collected and returned to you, usually in a casket or urn chosen by you.

Many families choose this option if they would like to keep their pet’s ashes as a personal way to remember them. It can provide comfort to have a physical reminder of a much-loved companion, whether kept at home, placed in a special location, or scattered somewhere meaningful. Throughout the process, pets are treated with care, dignity and respect. 🐾
