Dog and cat euthanasia

About Us

The Last Kindness provides a home-visit veterinary euthanasia service for companion animals. My services are limited solely to the peaceful euthanasia of pet dogs and cats owned by you. The animals must be already registered with veterinary practice. I operate as a limited service provider, meaning I do not offer diagnostics, treatment, emergency care, or ongoing veterinary support outside of this service. I only provide euthanasias. These Terms and Conditions explain how my service works and form a binding agreement once an appointment is booked.

Scope of  Service

My service consists only of a planned home visit to carry out euthanasia. I am not obligated to provide advice, diagnosis, emergency intervention, or follow-up veterinary care. Euthanasia is carried out by a qualified veterinary surgeon registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. My approach follows the standards for compassionate end-of-life care.  Your pet is considered under my care only from the time I arrive at your property until death has occurred. If cremation is discussed and agreed upon then your pet remains under our care.

By booking an appointment with The Last Kindness, you confirm that:

You have read and understood these Terms and Conditions

You are the legal owner of the pet, or have full authority by the legal owner to make decisions regarding their care

You have the legal right to request euthanasia for the animal concerned

Your Regular Vet

Because I do not provide 24-hour or emergency care: Your pet must be registered with a veterinary practice Responsibility for your pet’s care remains with your regular practice until I arrive at your home.

Safety

The safety of everyone involved is paramount. Animals must be safely controlled throughout the visit

Dogs may need to be restrained on a lead; other animals may need to be secured in separate rooms A responsible adult must be present to assist calmly if needed  I cannot tend to animals that are aggressive or cannot be safely restrained for injections. In these cases, euthanasia is safer in a clinical setting. I reserve the right to stop and leave immediately if I believe safety is compromised. In such cases, a 50% refund will be issued.

Fees & Payment

Our service fee is £250 for cats, £300 for dogs under 30kg and £350 for dogs over 30kg. Aftercare costs are not included but will be discussed with you during the visit .Payment can be done in full when the appointment is booked, or by terminal at the end of the visit.  Payments are processed securely via our payment provider.

Aftercare Arrangements

I provide aftercare services with a local crematorium (PCS) in Newbury. Your options after your pet has been declared deceased are:

Home burial (subject to legal guidelines) OR

Private or communal cremation by a pet crematorium through The Last Kindness, where I transport your animal to a storage facility on the same day, pending collection from the Crematorium Transport Vehicles .Alternatively you can transfer your animal to your usual veterinary practice for aftercare handling and options will be provided by them.
